As ya'll know, one of my favorite things to do is shop. During the summer, when I have a lot of time on my hands, I find myself shopping even more--which could be a bad thing! So, to compensate, I have found a new love: thrift stores. A lot of people don't see the beauty in thrift stores. Until this past weekend, I was one of those people. I went overboard (as always) and went to 3 thrift stores this weekend!
An important key to thrift storing is TIME. When you initially walk in, you will get stressed out. Clothes are everywhere, people are everywhere, all the sizes are bunched together...just take a deep breath! :) Go on a morning or afternoon that you will have plenty of time to plunder. I like to take on each section at a time (shirts, pants, dresses, etc.) Secondly, you should always try stuff on. I'm really bad at this step. I hate trying stuff on! But, because thrift store items are "gently used" items, they may not fit right even if they are the right size.
Some of the thrift stores that like are Goodwill and Plato's Closet. I haven't been to Salvation Army in a really long time, but I've found cute stuff there before as well.
Here are some things I found this weekend:
I apologize for the lighting on these pictures. I got both the necklace ($4) and the earrings ($4) at Plato's Closet.
I have loved these flats since I first saw them at Target. They sold out extremely fast here and I never found my size...but I finally found them! I found a brand new, never been worn pair at Goodwill for $5. I'm really excited about this find :)
This is just the pattern of a shirt that I found. I loved the colors. The fabric is very flowy and perfect for summer! I found this at Goodwill for $3.50
I love this skirt! I found this at Goodwill for $3.50. It's from The Loft! The fabric is so cute. I love the little flowers. It's more of a fall skirt, but it was worth the money! I can't wait to wear it this fall!
Here are some other things I found:
Plato's Closet: Black Dress (from Gap) $10
Goodwill: yellow pants ($3.50), 2 cardigans ($3.50 each)
So, what do you think about thrift stores? I always think of the saying, "Someone's trash is someone else's treasure" :) Happy shopping!
I want to check out upscale cheapskate in augusta! It's just like platos closet! Have you checked them out yet? Might find some more good finds :)
