Layered Accessories

Hi! It has been a LONG time since my last post! This summer is crazy! I'd like to touch on a few things before I start on my newest addiction, layered accessories.

Going back to my daily hair post- Yes, I have dyed my hair. The color is different in the straight hair photo and the curly one. I am not quite sure of the number or the type of dye, but Emily Holland is my stylist and she would love to give you the hook up! I love my dark hair!

Going back to my thrift store post- A lot of my readers have told me that they have tried thrift storing and it just didn't work for them :( The only helpful hint I can offer is time...time, time, time! All of the sizes are clumped together and it takes forever to look through everything. Sometimes you won't find anything, sometimes you'll only find a few things. Also, make sure you try things on! This tip is helpful anywhere, but especially in thrift stores! For example, I went to the local Goodwill today and found several cute things, like shirts and an adorable pair of tweed pointed toe shoes. I tried the shoes on and something had to be wrong with the heel. When I put all my weight on it, I almost fell over...and broke my ankle, which I'm sure sounded lovely coming from outside the dressing room! So, as cute and cheap as those shoes were, they weren't going to work. Lastly, people donate clothes because they obviously don't like them anywhere or because there is something wrong with it. Sometimes you can't see flaws until you try the item on. I found a cute top from Banana Republic that was perfect...except for the split in the seam that went all the way down the shirt. SO, in conclusion, always allow yourself a lot of time to browse and try on items! Just for fun...I found two cute shirts today. One is from Express, it's black and sparkly. The other is from Forever 21.

On to layered accessories! This is a really fun look. I became obsessed with this look around springtime when I bought this wrap watch:

I LOVE this watch :) I will wear it with anything. I bought it at a little kiosk in the mall for $20.

You can also layer necklaces or bracelets. I personally love to layer bracelets :)

The first group of multicolored bracelets I bought at Rue 21. They were around $6. I bought 2 pairs.  The second group I actually made :) I bought the beads and strings at Hobby Lobby. It was a fairly cheap project! The pretty bracelet in the middle, the one with all the rhinestones, is my absolute favorite! My sister bought this for me at Rue 21 for $1! We are definitely sisters...we love a good bargain!

Lastly, don't be afraid to buy "chunky" or bold accessories. They can give your outfit a whole new look. I bought this bracelet at Wet Seal a few weeks ago and I'm in love. It goes with anything and it always gives my outfit a little extra sparkle :)

So...go out and give thrift stores one more shot! Layer of your accessories and buy something bold :) Have a great week!
