Colored Pants

Happy Monday! Today was extremely busy for me. Last day of classes! Hooray! Now just exams and I am home free :) For a little while at least.

Today, I thought I'd do a post on the highly trending colored pants. They are everywhere! Just a few years ago, I owned a pair of pink colored pants and I thought they were hideous so I gave them away. Little did I know they would come back in style.

Sorry for the huge picture, but I love the outfits in it! When shopping for your colored pants, decide on what length that you want. If you want skinnies, be sure to try them on. Sometimes you may have to go up or down a size for them to fit just right. I just recently learned this trick and I'm so thankful that I did!  Be sure to browse around for the best price, too. I wanted a coral pair sooo badly. JCREW has a pair that is over $100. There is no possible way that I would pay that! So, I did my searching and found the perfect, coral pair at TjMaxx for $20 :)

As for coordinating, it depends on how you want your outfit to look. If you want your pants to be the statement piece, wear neutrals and/ solid colors. If you want to be a little bit bolder, pair with a compliment color. For example, I could wear my coral jeans with a teal color. Don't be afraid to mix patterns in either (stripes, zebra, cheetah, etc.)

Here are my colored pants!
Colored Pants: TjMaxx $20
Black scoop-neck top: Rue 21 $3 (OMG!)
Cheetah sandals: Old Navy $20
Jewelry
Teal necklace: Body Shop $3.95 (I told y'all I love this thing!)
Bird earrings: Walmart $3

What do you guys think of colored pants? How do you wear them?

Good Deals

Hi all! Hope everyone had a good weekend! Mine feels like it went by wayyy too fast :/ But, summer is almost here! Yay!

I just wanted to take a moment and say THANK YOU for all the sweet comments I have received from everyone about the blog. They mean so much to me! Thank you for taking the time to read my posts.  Thank you thank you thank you! (:

So, today I'm going to do something called a "bag raid". I saw this once on a fashion blog and I thought it was really cool. Basically, whenever I go shopping, I share whatever I buy with you guys. I just went shopping yesterday, so I thought this would be perfect timing! I go shopping a lot, so you guys might see similar posts very frequently (hehe)

Rue 21 is my most frequently shopped store. It is extremely cheap. Don't ever buy anything full price there. Wait 2 weeks--I promise you it will be 50% off next time you visit. Yesterday, I found these cute wedges for $10. I can't wait to wear them with jeans :) I love the burlap heel! It looks so cute and casual.

I then journeyed my way onto Cato. For me, this store is hit or miss. Sometimes I find a billion things I like. Other times, I can't find a thing. This might just be a personal thing because I know tons of people who find extremely cute things here. I just have more of a difficult time, haha!

Yesterday, I found 2 very cute necklaces and a dress. The first necklace was on sale for $3.99.
I guess you could say it is another statement necklace! The picture does not do the necklace justice. It is extremely sparkly AND it is a neutral piece so it will look great with anything.

The second necklace I bought full price for $8. I loved the little flower on it :) I just thought it was toooooo cute. I also liked the brass finish of the necklace..kinda vintage looking!

Lastly, I splurged and bought a dress for $20. Sometimes you just gotta splurge, especially when you are looking for dresses. You will rarely find a flattering dress for under $20. So, of course I had to buy it!
The picture doesn't do this piece justice, either. It is extremely cute on! It has ruffles down the front and it ties in a bow on the side. It sounds a little busy, but it works, I promise. I loved the colors of the dress. They reminded me of a peacock feather and we all know that I love those :) Here's a close up of the fabric:
Love it! The material is very light weight, too. Perfect for summertime!

On a last note, I wanted to share the outfit I wore today. Some of the pieces were really good steals, so I really have to share!

Seersucker Blazer: Forever 21: $23.00
Embellished camisole: Rue 21: $5
White pencil skirt: Cato $8
Peach peep-toes: Roses $7
Pearl earrings: Eric (hehe) (I lost one today, too! :( I'm so sad!)
Cluster bracelets: Forever 21 $3.00

Hope you guys enjoyed! What good deals have you guys found recently? Feel free to email me with questions or comments at wannjenkins@gmail.com. Happy Sunday!

Business Casual

Today was a very happy and sad day. Happy, because I was inducted into Kappa Delta Pi (Education Honor Society). Sad, because my lovely Colton was voted off American Idol. I had a little breakdown, but I will make it! He is a great musician, artist, and I know that God will order his steps. Can't wait to buy his CD. Yay!

Now, back to my induction. Tonight I became apart of a very special society full of ladies (and a few gentleman-ha!) that are all very near and dear to me! Yay Kappa Delta Pi!

Now, let's get down to business. The attire for the evening was "business casual". Whatttttt? What does that even mean! Sometimes when we attend events like this, it can be SO nerve wracking trying to find something to wear. You don't want to be too dressy, you don't want to be dressed down...what in the world do you wear! In fact, a lot of us girls had no clue what to wear tonight.

My suggestion is look as professional and conservative as possible. Dress pants are always a good choice. However, an appropriate dress, maybe with a blazer or cardigan, would look nice too. I love cardigans. I think that they pull outfits together so nicely. So, of course, this is my go-to choice. I'm also extremely girly, so at any special event, I feel the need to wear heels. I think that low heels would be appropriate, perhaps nothing taller than 3-4 inches. Pointed-toe heels are extremely sophisticated, as well as peep toes.

Here is what I wore:

Cardigan: Old Navy $20
Tank top: Old Navy $7
Pants: Rue 21 $8
Shoes: my beautiful friend Jessica (:
Necklace: Body Shop $3.95 (mentioned in my post yesterday!!)

So next time you have an event that requires something like, or similar to "business casual", remember to be professional and conservative. Classy...but sassy ;)

Statement Necklaces

Hey all! Sorry I didn't post yesterday. I have been feeling a little under the weather (dumb sinuses). Tonight, I was distracted by American Idol. I love this show! My favorite is Colton. He is so yummy! Plus, he has wonderful style and this makes me very happy :)

My post today is about one of my most recent favorites: statement necklaces. They are all over Pinterest, they are everywhere in clothing stores, and the best part is that they work for everyone.

Statement necklaces are designed to be just that, a statement. Sometimes an outfit can be a little dressed down, but our jewelry is what makes it pop. I was a little nervous about statement necklaces at first, but once I bought my first one...I couldn't stop!

I bought this necklace at Plato's Closet for about $4. At first, I wasn't sure why I liked it. It's gold--I normally like silver. It's chunky--I normally like simple. But, there was something that I loved about this necklace. This necklace matches almost anything. It has beads and stones almost every color. It looks great with dressy tops or even casual tops.  I especially LOVE this necklace with teal with purple colors, like in this photo:
You can't really see the necklace, but I wore it with a fuchsia skirt and a teal top. I love how the necklace tied everything together! That is another thing that I love about statement necklaces: it can tie your entire outfit together.

I bought this necklace at Forever 21 for $6. I saw it on a mannequin when I walked in and I instantly grabbed it. I had to have it! It is hard to tell from the picture (sorry, I took these on my IPhone), but the stones are very vintage looking. It looks great with neutral colors and lace. Love, love, love this necklace.

:) This necklace makes me smile every time I look at it. I would wear it everyday if that wasn't against fashion laws. I bought this necklace at Body Shop for $3.95....YES. $3.95. AHHHH Okay, for those of you that are scared to go in Body Shop...GO! They have wonderful jewelry and it is always extremely cheap. Yes, you have to dig around and plunder, but that's what makes finding pieces like this so special.  I love wearing this necklace with anything, but especially coral colors.

Lastly....I bought this little gem over eBay for $15. Yes, a little pricey compared to my others, but, retail value was $150. I know many of you have seen this necklace all over Pinterest. It is just as lovely in person.

Now, go out and buy a statement necklace :) Every girl needs one in her jewelry box!

Putting Outfits Together

All girls have experienced the "I don't have anything to wear" nightmare. I usually have it a couple times a week- ha! A friend recently messaged me and asked me about a couple of pieces in her closet that she was a little unsure about it. Sometimes piecing outfits together can be very frustrating, especially when you want it to look perfect!

We'll start with this item: army green bermuda shorts

Coral is a wonderful color that compliments army green. They look great together! Any of the shirts above would look great with those shorts. I'd pair it with a cute pair of brown wedges, brown sandals, and simple gold accessories.

yellow shorts
My favorite go-to spring/summer look is shorts and a simple top. Colored pants are a huge trend right now, so, you can expect shorts to be just as trendy when the weather heats up! I'd wear a simple, white, flowy tank top and teal/turquoise accessories. If you want to go for a more bold look, a royal blue top would look fabulous with yellow. I'd pair it with a long, simple necklace and you're set to go!

white shorts

White can be a tricky color to plan in your outfit. I personally don't like to pair green/white together or red/white. The colors I chose above would look great in the spring and summer seasons. I chose both casual tops and simple daytime tops. Remember, if you want a more dressy look, choose white bermuda shorts and a dressy top. For a daytime look, choose a short above the knee and a simple, cotton henley or t-shirt.

wedge shoes
I love wedge shoes! I don't wear them as much as I would like simply because I am so tall. One of my favorite trends right now is the "high-low" skirt. They look great with wedge shoes! Be sure to try on your high low skirt to make sure that it fits correctly. The front part is intended to be shorter, but not too short. Also, the back of the skirt should not touch the ground. The look of the skirt will depend on your height! Secondly, I love wearing wedge shoes with dresses. I picked out a couple of dresses above that I would pair with a brown or gold wedge.

Lastly, I had a lovely friend of mine send me this picture of a pair of tribal patterned wedges. Here is my fashion advice, if you are wearing a bold piece, let it be the only bold piece! Everything else about your outfit needs to be simple. Let the bold piece be your statement piece.  Here is what I would wear with these shoes:
I picked out a simple pair of denim crop pants (longer than capris, shorter than skinny jeans), a simple white shirt, and a colored necklace. Have fun with this look!

Let me know what you guys think! I loved hearing about all of your questions! I'd love to hear from ya'll again. Send some more questions my way (:

Here Goes Nothing :)

Hi! Welcome to my little fashion blog! If you know me, you know that I  absolutely LOVE to shop. In fact, it might be a slight addiction. However, what makes me feel okay with my addiction (hehe) is that everything I buy is usually $20 or less. Crazy! I know! So, I have decided to share my joy with the world.

My first post is more geared towards make-up.  Unfortunately, my sister was blessed with all the make-up skills and I was left empty handed :( I am kind of clueless in this department. I rarely EVER wear lipstick. In fact, never is probably a better word. So, when I found this wonderful lipstick, I almost died.

Revlon ColorBurst Lipbutter. Doesn’t it sound yummy? Not only is it lip color, but it also is lip balm. I don’t know what you might consider expensive, but this particular brand is about $6 a tube. I went nuts and bought 3 tubes. I have Berry Smoothie, Peach Parfait, and Cherry Tart. The color doesn’t last very long, but it is just like applying Chap Stick, so, have fun with this one! I don’t think any color would look bad, so don’t be afraid to buy something bold!
